Learn Frisian
Starting in November 2023, Nordfriisk Liirskap is the youngest unit at the Nordfriisk Instituut. We create materials to learn and teach Frisian, offer Frisian courses, and study and develop strategies to vitalise the language.
We are currently developing materials for Frisian education in primary schools as well as a self-study online course for Sölring, the dialect of Sylt.
By the way, the word liirskap is Hallig Frisian and deliberately ambiguous: liire means ‘learn’ and ‘teach’, while skap can be translated as either the noun ‘ship’ or the derivational suffix ‘-hood’.
